Brian Achenbach, who worked at a pharmaceutical company from which he was laid off in February, checks the computer at his new BrightStar franchise operation.
After 20 years working in corporate finance, Brian Achenbach was laid off in February for the third time in his career. Instead of looking for another job, he decided to open his own business.

EVERETT — Location means everything. Just ask the owner of the new Ace Hardware in Everett, Judith Moratti. Her store, in the Claremont Village Shopping Center on Evergreen Way, opened for business on Dec. 7.
