XPS Superstore

XPS Superstore

XPS Superstore began as the retail extension of Xtreme Polishing Systems (XPS), a Pompano Beach, Florida manufacturer of epoxy coatings, decorative concrete finishes, and the machines used to install them. Rather than sell exclusively through outside distributors, XPS set out to put its own products on its own shelves and build a network of stores that could sell directly to the installers who use them every day. To turn that idea into a repeatable, sellable retail concept, XPS Superstore turned to Franchise Marketing Systems to build the model, the operating infrastructure, and the unit sales strategy needed to grow store by store.

XPS Superstore: A Manufacturer Builds Its Own Storefront

XPS Superstore exists because its parent company makes the product it sells. Xtreme Polishing Systems manufactures epoxy coatings, polyaspartic finishes, grinding and polishing equipment, and the decorative flake and chip systems that go into a finished concrete floor. For years, that product moved through a patchwork of distributors, contractor supply houses, and online orders. XPS Superstore gave the manufacturer a direct channel of its own, a retail format built specifically to serve the concrete polishing and epoxy flooring trade rather than the general public. Contractors curious about the manufacturer behind the stores can browse the full product line on the official XPS website.

Reading the Concrete Coatings Market

Epoxy and decorative concrete coatings have grown from a niche specialty into one of the fastest-moving categories in flooring, driven by garage floor makeovers, commercial resurfacing, and a steady stream of new installers entering the trade. Most of those installers still buy from big-box stores that stock generic product, or from distributors with little hands-on knowledge of application. That gap, between the product installers need and the guidance they actually get, is what gave XPS Superstore its opening: a store built around real, on-the-floor consulting instead of a warehouse aisle.

Engineering a Retail Model Built to Sell

FMS started where every retail concept has to start, with the unit economics. The team worked with XPS to build a business model, pricing structure, and store-level financial framework that made owning a store an attractive, understandable investment for the entrepreneurs and industry veterans XPS wanted to attract. That groundwork, matching investment cost to store-level opportunity, is the same discipline FMS applies whenever it helps a manufacturer figure out how to franchise a business built around a product rather than a service.

Infrastructure for Every Store

Beyond the numbers, FMS built the systems each store would run on day to day: product sourcing and inventory tied back to XPS’s own manufacturing, staff training on epoxy and polyaspartic application, and a consulting process store teams could use to walk a contractor through the right coating system for their job. Much of that documentation followed the same approach FMS uses whenever it helps a client develop a franchise operations manual, so a store in Texas ran the same way as the flagship location in Florida.

Supporting Unit Sales

A workable model only grows if someone can sell it, so FMS supported the unit sales side of the business directly, developing the marketing materials, sales process, and prospect-facing story that turned interested contractors and investors into store owners. That combination of a sellable model and a functioning sales engine is central to how FMS approaches franchise development for clients moving from a single location to a growing network. With that engine in place, XPS Superstore has grown to 74 locations across the U.S., Canada, and several international markets.

Retail as a Distribution Strategy

Every part of the model traces back to the same goal: sell more product and build a wider distribution footprint for the manufacturer behind it. Each XPS Superstore location is both a point of sale and a consulting counter, a place where an installer can walk in with a job in mind and walk out with the right product and the knowledge to use it. For XPS, retail growth and product growth are the same growth.

Looking Ahead

With a proven model, trained store teams, and a sales system that continues to bring on new owners, XPS Superstore is positioned to keep adding locations in markets where installers still don’t have a dedicated source for epoxy and concrete coating products. Each new store extends the same idea that started it: put the manufacturer’s product directly in front of the people who install it.
